Map saving
landplan.io saves your map to the server as you work. The save status in the toolbar shows whether everything is saved. Only what is saved to the server shows on your other devices, in shared links and after Refresh map.
Save status
The save status, in the toolbar next to Undo and Redo, shows whether the map is saved to the server. Click it to save now.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Saved · 2 min ago | Every change is saved. |
| Unsaved changes | You changed the map since the last save. It is saved at the next autosave, or click to save now. |
| Saving… | The map is being saved. |
| Save failed · Retry | The save didn't reach the server. Click to try again. |
On a narrow screen only the status icon shows, until a save needs your attention.
To save at any time, click the save status or press Ctrl+S (⌘+S on a Mac). The map is also saved when you open print mode with Ctrl+P.
If you go to another page of the app with unsaved changes, landplan.io asks first: Save and leave or Leave without saving. If you close the tab, the browser warns you.
A project you can only view has no save status: nothing you do on it is saved.
Autosave
landplan.io saves the map by itself every 5 minutes while it is open.
Your edits are also kept on this device as you work, so a map you reopen here still has them, marked Unsaved changes until they reach the server. Save before you switch to another device.
Save conflicts
If the same map was saved on another device since you opened it, landplan.io combines the two. Changes made on only one device are kept. When the same feature changed on both, the Map saved on another device panel asks which to keep.
- Each feature changed on both devices is listed, with what happened to it, for example Edited on both devices. Click one to see it on the map: this device's version is outlined in orange, the other device's in purple, dashed.
- For each feature, choose Keep mine or Keep theirs. A feature deleted on one device reads Keep deleted or Delete it.
- Or click Keep all mine or Keep all theirs.
- Click Save merged map.
The view, layers, styles, print page and field data are saved as they are on this device. The close button means Decide later: nothing is saved until you choose.
Refresh map
Refresh map, in the toolbar's ⋮ menu, downloads a fresh copy of the map from the server, for example to see changes saved on another device.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Save and refresh | Saves your changes, then downloads the map. |
| Refresh without saving | Downloads the map. Changes on this device that aren't saved are lost. |
| Cancel | Keeps the map as it is. |
The window warns you when the map has changes that aren't saved.
Under it, Clear local data… removes the cached maps, settings and offline data from this browser, signs you out and reloads the app. Use it only if the app keeps misbehaving after a refresh.
