Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 12, 2026 · Version: 2026-10

This Privacy Policy explains how NewSeptic, LLC, doing business as landplan.io ("landplan.io", "we", "us" or "our"), collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the landplan.io website, application, documentation and APIs (the "Service"). Words defined in our Terms of Service have the same meaning here.

In short

  • We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
  • We use it to run the Service, support you, bill you and keep the Service secure.
  • We share it only with the service providers that help us run the Service, with the people you choose to share with, when the law requires it, or in a sale of our business.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time by writing to support@landplan.io.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), phone number, company, profession, licenses, and profile photo.
  • Project information (Your Content):
    • property addresses and parcel numbers
    • the names, addresses and phone numbers of your clients, applicants and property owners
    • soil tests, photos, drawings, files you upload, comments and markups
    • designs, estimates and reports
  • Billing information: your plan, purchases and billing address. Your card or bank details go directly to our payment processors (Stripe, Braintree, a PayPal service, or PayPal). We never see or store your full card number.
  • Communications:
    • messages you send us by email, the contact form or the in-app support chat
    • messages you exchange with other users in job threads and on shared maps
  • Marketplace information: for homeowners and designers using the jobs marketplace, job details, site addresses, bids, ratings, and payout details (such as a PayPal email or Stripe account).

Information collected automatically

  • Device and log information:
    • your IP address and browser and device type
    • pages and features used, and the dates and times of sign-ins and requests
    • errors and diagnostics
  • Approximate location from your IP address: city, region, postal code and country. We use it for security, pricing by area, and understanding where the Service is used.
  • Precise location, only when you ask for it: for example, when you use "locate me" on the map, with your browser's permission.
  • Use of the Service: which project and tool you have open, and the actions you take in the app. We use this to provide support, fix problems and improve the Service.
  • Email engagement: whether our marketing emails are opened or their links clicked.
  • Cookies and browser storage:
    • We use cookies and similar browser storage (local storage and IndexedDB) to keep you signed in, remember your settings, store maps for offline use, and remember that you have seen our cookie notice.
    • We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers.
    • Google reCAPTCHA, and Google or Facebook sign-in when you choose it, may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

Information from others

  • Sign-in providers: if you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from that provider.
  • Your organization or colleagues: people in your organization, or other users, may add you to a project, an organization or a share.
  • Public sources: we may collect business contact information from public sources, such as company websites, to tell businesses about the Service.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  1. provide, maintain and improve the Service, including saving your projects and producing your designs and reports;
  2. create and secure your Account, verify sign-ins, and prevent fraud, abuse and spam;
  3. process payments, renewals and refunds, and send receipts and billing notices;
  4. provide customer support and training;
  5. send service messages, such as security notices, renewal reminders and changes to our terms;
  6. send news and offers about landplan.io. You can unsubscribe from these at any time;
  7. create aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify you, your clients or a property (see section 3); and
  8. comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect the rights and safety of our users, the public and landplan.io.

3. How we share information

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or for advertising. We share personal information only in these cases:

  1. Service providers. These companies process information for us, under contracts that limit its use to providing their services to us:
    • Microsoft Azure: hosting, storage, maps and monitoring
    • IONOS and Amazon Web Services: email delivery
    • Stripe, Braintree and PayPal: payments
    • Google: address search, geocoding, elevation, reCAPTCHA and sign-in
    • Facebook: sign-in, when you choose it
    • Anthropic: AI tools used by our staff for research and data quality, which are not given your projects
    • other mapping and data services that receive a location or address to return map data
  2. People you choose to share with. When you use a sharing feature, we share what you choose with the people you choose, as described in section 7 of our Terms. This includes:
    • map share links, which anyone who has the link can open
    • project copies
    • public projects
    • organizations
    • health department review
    • the jobs marketplace
  3. Your organization. If you use landplan.io as part of an organization, its owners and administrators can see the organization's projects and its members' activity in them.
  4. Legal reasons. We share information when we believe in good faith that it is needed to:
    • comply with a law, regulation, court order or lawful request
    • enforce our Terms
    • protect the rights, property or safety of landplan.io, our users or others
  5. Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that deal. This policy will continue to apply to it.
  6. With your consent, in any other case.

Aggregated data. We may share aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify you, your clients or a property, for example the number of systems designed in a county. We do not try to re-identify it.

4. Who at landplan.io can see your information

A small number of authorized staff can access accounts and projects when needed to provide support, investigate a problem or misuse, keep the Service secure, or comply with law. Staff access is limited to that purpose. For quality and support, we keep copies of the emails the Service sends.

5. How long we keep information

  • Account and project information: while your Account is active. After your plan ends, we keep Your Content for at least 6 months so you can renew or export it. After that we may delete it.
  • Billing records and similar information: kept as long as tax, accounting and other laws require.
  • Logs, diagnostics and backups: kept for limited periods, then deleted or overwritten in the normal course.
  • Deletion requests: if you ask us to delete your information, we delete it within a reasonable time. We may keep what we must keep for legal, billing or security reasons.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Access, correction and deletion. You can update most Account information in the app. To get a copy of your information, correct it or delete it, or to close your Account, write to support@landplan.io. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.

  • Marketing emails. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. You will still receive service messages about your Account.

  • Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Some features, such as staying signed in, will not work without them.

  • Location. You can turn off location permission for landplan.io in your browser at any time.

  • State and provincial privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as:

    • knowing what personal information we collect and how we use it
    • correcting it or deleting it
    • receiving a copy of it
    • appealing our decision on your request

    This applies, for example, to residents of California and other U.S. states, and of Canada. You can exercise these rights by writing to support@landplan.io, and we will not treat you differently for doing so. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of in that respect.

7. Information about your clients

If you enter information about other people, such as your clients or property owners, you are responsible for having the right to share it with us and for telling them how it will be used where the law requires. We use that information only to provide the Service to you and as this policy describes. Those people can contact us at support@landplan.io with questions or requests about their information.

8. Security

We protect information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity, including:

  • encryption in transit (HTTPS)
  • hashed passwords
  • access controls
  • rate limits
  • monitoring

No system is completely secure. Keep your password confidential, and tell us right away at support@landplan.io if you think your Account has been compromised.

9. Children

The Service is intended for adults and businesses. It is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Where information is processed

landplan.io is based in the United States. Your information is stored and processed in the United States, and in other countries where our service providers operate. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred there.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If a change is material, we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email or in the Service. The version and effective date at the top show which policy is current.
