Septic Tools Overview

We built this software because we saw a need for contractors on the front lines to have a tool to rapidly generate septic plans. We now have so much information about our world, it is possible to conduct planning prior to a site visit to optimize your time onsite and make sure you don't miss anything.

To effectively plan a septic system, we attempt to provide you with an easy to navigate and accurate map with local Tax Map or Parcel, Contour, and Hydrography data.

Combined with our drawing tools and elevation queries that are done in the background, this allows our users to generate a working septic plan.

Our software for septic design and mapping is built on a model of A Hierarchy of Accuracy

An Effective Order To Draw Septic Components

NewSeptic was built for speed and for generating a working onsite wastewater treatment system plan. The general process is as follows:

  1. Draw components using the septic tools
  2. Use the Print View to generate a pdf layout map
  3. Once a full system is drawn, use the Calculator to generate a pdf plan

For Step 1, Drawing the septic components in the following order generally offer the best experience:

  1. Building with Flow
  2. Sewer Main (start clicking at the building with flow, and end at the tank location)
  3. Tank Tools
  4. If generating a Soil Absorption System Trench Tool + Creating Contour Systems Tool
    or
  5. If generating a Spray System Spray Tool

If a dose tank is used, you will need to connect your dose tank component with a force main or combination of force main or manifolds (see pipe tools for more info) to a distribution method

A Hierarchy of Accuracy

We strive to provide you with the best available public data. You can at any point in the program as you draw components, enter more accurate data you have collected in the field. We know that some contractors employ very accurate field data collection tactics including accurate GPS, differential leveling equipment, and even total stations. You can always override our elevation and measurement information provided.

GIS

Our Parcel and Tax Map data are from local government agencies and are provided as is. Contour data is made from local sources of Lidar data.
