Component properties
Every feature on the map has properties: a tank its size and product, a trench its length and elevations, a house its bedrooms and flow. You see and change them in the Properties panel. They are saved with the map. See Map saving.
The fields each feature has, and their defaults, are set per state, and can differ county by county.
Open the properties
Select a feature: click it with Select in Edit tools, or right-click the map and pick it under Features here. Its properties open in the Properties tab of the right panel (the left drawer on a tablet or phone).
To close it, click Unselect feature (the close button), or select nothing.
The Properties panel
The title bar names the feature, and its buttons depend on the feature:

| Round length down | For a line: rounds its length down to a whole number, by moving its last point back along the line. |

| ⋮ (More) | Show all properties, Float on the map or Dock on the left, and Delete feature when the feature can be deleted. |
| Unselect feature | Closes the panel. |
The fields are grouped in sections: Product, Cost, Size, Elevations, Details and Links and documents, in that order. A feature's summary, such as 221.73 ft Distribution Trench, is at the top.
Beside each field's name:
- * marks a field that must be filled in.
- The i button says what the field is for.
- The bookmark button makes the value the default for new designs. See Default values.
Type a value or pick one. It is kept as you type. Numbers show in your units.
More fields
Minor fields, such as ids and the units that go with a value, wait behind More fields at the bottom, with their number. Click it to show them, and Fewer fields to hide them again. A minor field that isn't valid is always shown. For the features of a server layer, such as parcels, the button reads All fields.
Show all properties, in the ⋮ menu, shows every field at once, including the ones a product card already shows.
Docked or floating
The panel can sit in the Properties tab of the right panel (the left drawer on a tablet or phone), or float on the map beside the selected feature.
- Choose Float on the map in the ⋮ menu to float it. A pointer joins it to the feature.
- Drag its title bar to move it. Back beside the feature puts it back next to the feature.
- Drag the corner to resize it. Double-click the corner to fit the form again.
- Choose Dock in the right panel (Dock on the left on a tablet) to put it back.
The browser remembers your choice. On a phone the panel always sits in the drawer.
Several features selected
With more than one feature selected, a bar under the title reads, for example, 1 of 3 selected. Use the arrows to go through them, or click the bar to pick one from the list.
Products
A tank, a pump, distribution media and other product features have a product card above their fields: the product's photo or its sheet, its price (or No price yet), its main specifications, the Manufacturer with a link to its website, and the Distributor. Change picks another distributor. See Distributors.
Relationships
Some features belong to others: the trenches, laterals and soil cover of a system belong to its bed, and a spray pattern to its spray head. Their links are in Links and documents, for example Bed Relationship, Trench Relationship, Lateral Relationship or Bed Section Relationship. A link shows only when the feature has one.
Click a link to open the Relationships window. It has a tab for each related feature, with that feature's properties.
You can change the related feature's values there, as in its own panel. Close the window with its close button. The map stays usable while it is open.
The fixture count and the commercial flow of a building open their own windows instead. See Fixture count and Commercial flow.
Spec sheets and documents
Links and documents also holds the feature's links and files:
- A link opens the page in a new tab.
- A PDF opens in the document viewer, on top of the map.
- A product's spec sheets and other documents show as chips under its product card. Click one to open it.
- An action, such as Change Distribution Media Distributor, opens its own window.
The document viewer is the same one that shows reports and print previews. Its title bar has Download, and New tab to open the file in a browser tab. If a document stays blank, the viewer says so: open it in a new tab. Click Close to go back to the map.
Default values
Click the bookmark next to a field to make its value the default in your new designs. The bookmark fills in to show the value is the default. Defaults are kept with your account, as a copy of your state's or county's lists.
