Elevation Process
landplan seeks to provide elevation details, make saving these elevation details related to septic components you are drawing and we want this to be very easy.
Currently, as you draw features such as Tanks, Gravity Pipes (Sewer Main, Distribution Main), Trenches, we collect elevation data
For example: The point on the map that you start the Sewer Main line drawing, we send this point on the map and look up an elevation at this point on the earth from a digital elevation service.
We are currently using our best available public data and use a model of a Hierarchy of Accuracy. This approach is common to licensed surveyors. When starting a land planning project, first you need to use a GIS to collect the most up-to-date information for site visit planning. Once onsite, you can collect more accurate measurements.
The significance of the required level of accuracy is dependent on the project. Road surveying, for example, requires extremely accurate measurements. Septic planning on the other hand does not.
The main reason to measure elevations in onsite wastewater treatment planning is to properly select a pump for pumping systems and ensure gravity flow can be achieved.
WARNING
Treat elevation data generated in the system with the intent to field validate. Some areas have fairly accurate elevation others are significantly less so.
